The San Diego Center for Integrative Medicine is proud to offer its 2 day course in training for Platelet Rich Plasma therapy and Ultrasound guided injections. This course will include training for Lumbar, Knee and Shoulder joints. We call it Practical PRP because by the end of the course, you will be able to offer PRP in your office with ultrasound diagnosis and guided injections. It includes injection techniques, harvesting techniques, billing information, along with basic anatomy and PRP theory, as well as practical hands on practice.
Currently, PRP is rapidly becoming the desired treatment for patients with joint pains. It fills the gap for patients between having to take pain meds for the rest of their life and surgery. Many patients do not want surgery or are not candidates. PRP can help heal these patients’ joints. It is considered a Regenerative Joint therapy. It heals damaged and injured ligaments and tendons around painful joints that are causing instability. It uses the platelet component of a patient’s blood. The platelets are first to heal injured tissues. They have growth factors that cause angiogenesis and the laying down of new collagen and fibroblasts. With today’s technology, separating the platelets from the blood is a 15 minute in office procedure which is safe and easy. This course will teach you how to add this service to your practice.

When a person sprains a joint, the ligaments and tendons supporting that joint are stretched. Because they don’t have a good blood supply, the healing of the tendons and ligaments gets short circuited. The joint is left in a loose unstable state that causes it to wobble. The body does not like the instability and tries several methods to stabilize the joint. The first is to recruit the muscles above and below the joints to hold the joint tight. But the muscles are not designed for this and fatigue and spasm leading to referred pain. If the instability goes on long enough, the second method the body uses to stabilize the joint is to calcify the inflamed areas. This leads to osteophyte formation and what we know as arthritis. By using PRP, we can target those injured tissues and inject the body’s own healing factors within the platelets to restart the healing process all over again. My studies have shown 80% of patients experience at least 60% improvement in symptoms. On a scale of 1-10, their pain level is decreased from 8 to 3.6. Over 85% of the patients were satisfied. This is a very powerful therapy that is easy to learn and easy to apply in the office.

By the end of this course you will have learned this state of the treatment professional athletes are using to get back in the game quicker and without surgery. PRP is a type of regenerative joint therapy that is changing the way medicine is performed. After this course you will be on the cutting edge of medicine and able to offer your patients the best possible treatment for their ailing back or joints. This is a great time to learn this therapy since virtually all insurances are now covering the procedure. By including PRP into your practice, you can change the face of your practice. It will add another dimension of treatment for your patients that can fill in the gap between taking medicines for the rest of their lives and surgery.
